Calls for safety audit to be carried out at Mayflower roundabout

A Leitrim councillor has expressed concern over the potential for a serious accident to take place around a major junction linking north and south Leitrim.

Drumbshanbo based councillor Enda McGloin is highlighting the concerns after an increase in the town’s population.

He’s calling on the Road Design Department of Leitrim County Council to consider new road markings and a pedestrian safety study, alongside a new tarmacadam surface around the Mayflower roundabout and junctions at Carricknabrack.

With the local vocational school, the emergency accommodation provision centre, and the Lough Allen Sailing centre situated in the area, the Fine Gael councillor says a safety audit needs to take place.
