Leitrim election candidate accuses the government of lacking ambition to solve housing crisis

A North West representative from the Labour Party is expressing her frustration with the continued number of building that are empty or derelict while the homeless figures continue to soar.

Bernie Linnane has sharply criticised the Government for the lack of ambition on housing in Budget 2024 adding that instead of penalising landlords for leaving building they instead rewarded them with tax breaks.

The Dromahair based candidate will run in next summer’s local elections in the Manorhamilton Municipal District.

She says the Government have failed to show a serious appetite to solve the housing crisis adding that it’s the one major issue on the doorsteps she is encountering during her election canvass.
