A petition containing 26,000 names will be handed into the Oireachtas Petitions Committee this week calling for the development of a greenway along the route of the old and disused Sligo-Athenry rail line. The Western Rail Trail campaign insist the asset needs to be utilised now, until the restoration of the rail line might be possible and insist they are not opposed to that concept
