Funeral of Ronan Wilson hears he touched the hearts of many during his short life

The Funeral Mass of nine year old Ronan Wilson has heard that he will be remembered for his big smile, a sense of boyhood fun and his love of football.

Ronan, originally from Kildress in County Tyrone, was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Bundoran on Saturday night.

Ronan’s Funeral Mass is currently underway at St. Mary’s Church in Dunamore.

Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Parish Priest, Father Paddy Hughes, baptised Ronan and celebrated his first communion with him.

During the homily, Father Hughes says that in his short life, Ronan touched the hearts of so many people young and old.

He also says nothing can be said to take away the pain felt by the Wilson family and the wider community:

Earlier this week, 23-year-old Serge Kelly, with an address at Upper Mullaghmore in Sligo, appeared in court, charged with offences under the Road Traffic Act.

Mr. Kelly failed stop following the incident, did not render aid and did not contact Gardaí.

He was remanded on bail to appear before Ballyshannon District Court on October 20th.
