Sligo Races go ahead as planned today



Wednesday’s Sligo Races meeting is going ahead as planned despite the inclement weather conditions.

Race officials have been monitoring track conditions as Storm Agnes approaches the southern half of the country.

The going at Sligo remains yielding, yielding to soft in places.

Wednesday’s forecast was for up to 25mm (approx) of rain according to Met Éireann, with winds increasing during the day up to 50km/h and gusts up to 75km/h.

However, the seven-race national hunt card is set to begin as planned at 2:10pm.

Wednesday’s meeting is also Students Day.

Among the feature races are the Frank O’Beirne Memorial Novice Handicap Steeplechase, the Brenda Anderson Memorial Beginners Steeplechase – and
the Leo McMorrow Memorial Novice Handicap.
