Gardaí investigating after young boy killed in hit-and-run in Bundoran



Gardaí in Donegal are appealing for witnesses after a young boy was killed in a road traffic accident in Bundoran last night.

The boy, named as Ronan Wilson, aged 9, from Kildress in Co. Tyrone, was struck on the Atlantic Way in Bundoran at around 9.20pm last night. He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time after.

The vehicle involved in the incident did not remain at the scene.

Traffic diversions are in place and the scene has been preserved for examination by crime officers and Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.  The deceased has been removed to the mortuary at Sligo  University Hospital.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and are particularly appealing to the driver of the vehicle to come forward. Investigating Gardaí are also appealing to those with video footage, including dash cam recordings, from Atlantic Way and Sea Road and the general area at the time, to make it available to them.
