‘Grubby behaviour’ – Minister blasts management at Sligo apartment complexes



The Minister for Further and Higher Education has accused management at two apartment complexes in Sligo of ‘grubby behaviour’ over a decision not to house students for this coming academic year.

 

Earlier this month, hopes were dashed following revelations that purpose-built student accommodation providers at Benbulben Court and Milligan Court would not be providing accommodation to students.

 

It had been anticipated that the apartments would be returned to students after a controversial application to house Ukrainian refugees was not granted.

 

However despite this, a decision was taken not to offer the accommodation to students anyway – a move which has affected more than 500 people wishing to study in Sligo.

 

Responding to questions from Sligo Leitrim Independent TD Marian Harkin, Minister Simon Harris appealed to the ‘better nature’ of management:
