Former Leitrim Council CEO predicts bright future for the county



The former CEO of Leitrim County Council has urged those working in the tourism and hospitality sector to do all they can to exceed the expectations of visitors so as to help the industry overcome the challenges that it currently faces.

 

Lar Power’s tenure as CEO of the Local Authority in Leitrim ended on Friday last.

 

The Wexford native will now take over as CEO of Kilkenny County Council.

 

During a recent interview with Ocean FM the former Leitrim CEO says it was always the Council’s ambition to develop the entire county of Leitrim as a tourism destination and stressed the importance that the various Blue and Greenway projects will play in attracting visitors to the region in the future.

 

During his final week as Leitrim Council CEO Lar Power sat down with Ocean FM’s John Lynch to look back on his time in the North West and the challenges that faced him in the role.

 

He starts the following interview by admitting that it was a difficult decision to leave his position in Leitrim after five and a half years in the job.
