Minister for Agriculture sets up new group to tackle water quality issues

The Agriculture Minister has set up an Agriculture Water Quality Stakeholders Group to improve water quality.

Charlie McConalogue says it is now crystal clear the EU Commission will not re-visit Ireland’s current derogation decision.

Following his meeting with the ICMSA yesterday, he says there has not been sufficient improvement in water quality.

He says Ireland is one of only three member states who have negotiated a Nitrates Derogation and its allowance is the highest of those three.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Minister McConalogue said that farmers are continuing to work hard to improve water quality in Ireland.
