Local councillor calls for action on overcrowding at Sligo University Hospital



There are further calls for immediate short term measures to address overcrowding at Sligo University Hospital ahead of the winter months.

 

It comes as figures released yesterday have revealed that the hospital was the fourth most overcrowded nationwide in August, with a total 737 people waiting for a bed over the course of the month.

 

There’s huge concern over what the situation will be like in the months ahead, a time when overcrowding traditionally peaks.

 

Fianna Fail Cllr Donal Gilroy who’s also a member of the regional health forum west says there needs to be some forward planning now:
