Boundaries Commission report to be published this morning

TD’s across the North West will be awaiting with interest the publication of the Boundaries Commission report this morning.

Of particular interest in this region will be the counties of Donegal and Leitrim.

Calls have been made for Donegal to be united ahead to next general election with the option of two,  three seater constituencies or a five seat constituency being talked about.

In recent days there has been speculation that the County of Leitrim could be split ahead of the 2025 General Election.

In the past there was strong opposition to the county being split as such a move significantly reduces the chances of a county with a small population retuning a TD to Dáil Eireann.

Between 11 and 21 TD’s will be required due to the increase in the Country’s population.
