Kami lands local win at Sligo Races

11/1 shot Kami produced a storming finish at Wednesday’s Sligo Races meeting to land the Carlsberg Handicap for local Sligo trainer Mark McEniff and owners John and Janice Doyle from Grange.

With jockey Gavin Ryan aboard, Kami got off to a poor start but finished impressively in the closing stages to take the win ahead of Redshore City and My Girl Sioux.

The feature race of the evening, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Connacht Oakes produced a barnstorming finish with jockey Siobhan Routledge guiding the Jessica Harrington trained Starry Heavens home from last to first in the closing stages.

The start of Wednesday’s meeting was delayed by 25 minutes while techicians worked to repair a power cut at the racecourse earlier in the afternoon.

Racing continues on Thursday with Ladies Day – where there’s a seven-race national hunt card.

The first race on Thursday is due off at 5:05pm.
