Donegal community groups in line for significant funding boost

Two Donegal community groups have received funding of over 132,000 under the CLÁR programme.

Measure 2 of the CLÁR programme sees community groups that provide support for Mobility, Cancer Care and Community First Responders Transport get funding, and forms part of the Government’s five-year policy for rural Ireland, Our Rural Future.

The funding allocated today will allow community groups to purchase vehicles designed to transport people who have mobility issues or people being treated for cancer.

The announcement, made this morning by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, sees the Donegal Spraoi agus Sport Family Centre CLG receive almost 78,000 towards a 19 seat wheelchair minibus, while the Donegal Cancer Flights and Services will get almost 55,000 for a 17-seater vehicle.

In total, over two million euro in funding was announced, supporting the purchase of a record 37 vehicles in rural communities around the country.
