County champions Naomh Conaill added the Brian McCormick Sports Division 1 senior football league title to their trophy cabinet on Sunday with a 0-9 to 1-5 win over St Eunan’s in the final played at MacCumhaill Park.
This decider was far from a classic with both teams shorn of several of their regulars.
They are due to meet each other in a few weeks time in the round-robin stages of the senior club championships.
Naomh Conaill seemed to be heading for a comfortable win until Eunan’s were awarded a penalty deep in added time, which Eoin McGeehin converted.
However, there was no more time for Eunan’s to find an equalising score as the referee signalled for the end of the game on the resulting kick-out.
