Leitrim club championship draws made



St Mary’s Kiltoghert will begin the defence of their Leitrim Connacht Gold senior football championship title against Division 3 league runners-up Gortletteragh next weekend.

Saturday night’s championship draw for 2023 determined the five first round fixtures.

Last year’s beaten county finalists Mohill, who are managed again this year by Eamonn O’Hara, will travel to Dromhair (who are also managed by a Sligoman Padraig Clancy).

Glen Young’s Glencar/Manorhamilton, recently relegated from Division 1 of the league, face a trip to Aughawillan for round 1 next weekend.

The senior championship in Leitrim sees the 10 clubs playing four round-robin games.

The top two teams will then qualify directly for county semi-finals with the next four best-placed clubs contesting two quarter-finals.

The bottom four teams will play in relegation semi-finals – with one team to be relegated to intermediate football next year.

All five round 1 games will be played next Saturday evening, August 5th, at 7pm.

In the Smith Monumentals intermediate championship, new Division 2 champions Allen Gaels will start against Bornacoola

New Division 3 league winners Drumkeerin face Carrigallen – and there’s a north Leitrim derby in round 1 with Ballinaglera hosting Melvin Gaels.
