Sligo pro surfer Gearoid McDaid will contest the Repechage finals of the men’s Longboard event at the European Surfing Championships, also known as Eurosurf 2023, at Praia De Santa Cruz in Portugal.
McDaid and his Ireland team-mate Tom Breen failed to qualify for the main final from their round 5 heats on Wednesday – but both surfers will have another opportunity to reach the Grand Final in Thursday’s repechage deciders.
McDaid is part of a 10-strong Ireland surfing team, which also includes the Rossnowlagh duo of Una Britton and Maia Monaghan.
The Donegal girls were unable to progress from their women’s Longboard heats this week.
