Maxi Curran steps down as Donegal Ladies manager

Maxi Curran has stepped down as Donegal ladies manager after six years at the helm. Throughout his stint in charge, he led Donegal to three Ulster senior championships in 2018, 2019 and this year in 2023.

He also guided them to All-Ireland semi finals in 2018, where they lost out to Cork, and in 2022 where they were beaten by eventual winners Meath. His decision to step down comes after Donegal went out of the Senior All-Ireland Championship at the quarter final stage at the weekend, losing to Dublin by a score of 3-12 – 0-06.

In a statement, Donegal LGFA confirmed Curran’s decision “with regret”, and thanked him for his time, commitment and dedication to Donegal Ladies Football over the last 6 years, and wished him well for the future.

Speaking to Ocean FM Sport this afternoon, Curran said he felt after six years, the time had come to step away.
