The closure of nursing homes in the North West and elsewhere has been described as a deeply worrying trend.
In the last three years, there have been 31 private and voluntary nursing home closures resulting in the loss of 915 beds.
Three of these closures were nursing homes in County Roscommon that served people in this region, with the loss of 67 beds.
Speaking ahead of a Sinn Fein Motion set to be debated in the Dail tonight, Sinn Feins Transport Spokesperson and Sligo Leitrim TD Martin Kenny says concerns on the ground need to be listened to.
He says urgent action needs to be taken to halt the closures:
