Donegal’s Jamie Meehan wins national cycling title

Donegal’s Jamie Meehan is celebrating a national cycling title after winning a sprint finish in the men’s under-23 race at the National Road Cycling Championships in Dungannon, County Tyrone.

The Mountcharles native just edged Darren Rafferty on the line to claim gold in an exciting finish.

Meehan, a past pupil of Abbey Vocational School in Donegal Town, cycled with Tir Chonaill GAP Cycling Club growing up – and is one of Irish cycling’s emerging talents.

He was a bronze medal winner at the National Championships during his junior years – but now has a national title to his name.
