Hundreds of students in limbo as accommodation crisis in Sligo deepens



Serious concern has been raised over revelations that two apartment complexes in Sligo are to no longer provide student accommodation.

 

Milligan Court and Benbulben Court in the town previously housed students attending Sligo ATU however management has confirmed it will not be offering accommodation for the next academic year.

 

It effectively puts hundreds of students wishing to study here, in limbo.

 

It has been described as another hammer blow for students and parents at a time when accommodation is already at a premium.

 

In a statement, ATU Sligo’s Student Union say they’re deeply concerned and disappointed at the decision which has now placed students in a distressing situation.

 

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Independent Sligo Leitrim TD, Marc MacSharry, said that a lack of student accomodation on this scale simply should not be allowed:
