€200,000 funding pot for biodiversity projects in North West



A number of biodiversity projects in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal are to share €200,000 in funding.

 

Donegal gets the biggest allocation of €80,000.

 

Four projects in Sligo are to share €70,000 under the Local Biodiversity Action Fund.

€18,000 is going towards a Biodiversity Audit to inform the preparation of the Sligo Heritage and Biodiversity Strategy.

 

The County Wetlands Survey also gets €18,000 while a County IAS plans to receive €17,000.

 

€17,000 has also been awarded for the Preparation of a Conservation Management Plan for Alluvial Woodland.

 

In Leitrim, just over €25,600 is going towards Phase III of a County Leitrim Wetlands Survey while almost €21,000 has been awarded for a Hedgerow Survey.

 

Over €39,000 has been granted for a birds Habitat Protection at five sites throughout Donegal.

 

A total of 188 projects have been approved across all 31 local authorities, covering a range of biodiversity-related activities, including invasive alien species control, dune restoration, wetland surveys and biodiversity awareness and training.
