Warnings issued over use of scooters and bikes in Leitrim

Warnings have been issued over the use of E-scooters and bicycles on footpaths in towns and villages throughout Leitrim.

Drumshanbo-based Councillor Brendan Barry has expressed concern after one individual was knocked down by a cyclist that had mounted a footpath while a number of other near misses are believed to have taken place in various areas across the county.

The Sinn Féin Councillor is calling on the local authority to erect signage and have a safety campaign around the issue of cyclists and E-scooter users on footpaths.

He says residents and shoppers have raised concerns over possible accidents and near misses when stepping out of buildings onto a footpath and being hit with a cyclist or scooter.
