National Biodiversity Week celebrated at Parkes Castle

National Biodiversity Week is being celebrated for the past week at Parkes Castle on the shore of Lough Gill in County Leitrim.

The week is all about connecting with nature, highlighting the importance of biodiversity and motivating people to play their part in protecting it.

And it’s all being done in an entertaining manner, thanks to the fun and wonder that can be found in nature, with the hope that people will be motivated to learn more, see more and do more.

Events continue this weekend at Parkes Castle, with OPW Information and Guide Dara Timpson leading lakeside diversity workshops on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 11am.

OPW Supervisor Emma Timoney has been telling Ocean FM News about what has been happening this week at Parkes Castle, and what’s in store for the coming weekend.
