Free seal rescue training in Sligo this weekend

Seal Rescue Ireland will be in Sligo this weekend to provide seal rescue training.

Every year, Seal Rescue Ireland has a growing number of reports of distressed or stranded seals from around the entire coast of the Republic of Ireland.

As a result, they now need more trained volunteers nationwide than ever before.

The free training is to ensure that people know when a seal needs help, and how to best deliver that assistance.

Free, in-person training is taking place in Sligo and Donegal this weekend – the session in Sligo is getting underway in Strandhill on Saturday, May 27 from 2pm to 5pm.

No previous experience is necessary.

Upon completion, those who have taken part will become a registered volunteer with SRI and will be called upon when a seal is in danger in their vicinity.

Those interested can register at https://www.sealrescueireland.org/.
