Local children being ‘failed’ over suspended respite services, Dail hears



A Donegal TD has lashed out at Tánaiste Michael Martin over respite services currently available to children with special needs and their families.

 

It comes as a number of services both locally and elsewhere are suspended due to staffing issues.

 

Speaking in the Dail this hour, Donegal Sinn Fein TD Pearse Doherty accused the Government of failing those concerned.

 

Deputy Doherty says these services are critical and branded the situation as ‘simply embarrassing’.

 

Responding, Tánaiste Michael Martin says the HSE is working to try and come up with solutions but that it isn’t a question of funding:
