Garda Ombudsman investigating the death of a woman in Buncrana



The young woman killed after being hit by a Garda car in Donegal at the weekend has been named locally.

 

21 year old Rebecca Brown who was from Derry, died after being struck by the patrol car at Ludden in Buncrana in the early hours of yesterday.

 

The incident is being investigated by the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission.

 

 

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Buncrana Garda station on 074 932 0540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.

 

 

In a separate incident in Mayo a 13 year old boy has died after the tractor he was driving overturned.

 

The young teenager was driving a tractor on a local road, at Scarduane near Claremorris shortly after a quarter past 8 on Saturday night when it overturned

 

The 13 year-old boy was treated at the scene for serious injuries and was brought to Galway University Hospital.

 

He was then transferred to Temple Street Hospital in Dublin – where yesterday he was pronounced dead.

 

A garda forensic colision investigation team have examined the road where the accident happened.

 

It’s now been fully reopened to traffic and Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
