Shelving of N17 project ‘appalling’



The shelving of the N17 Knock to Collooney project has been described as appalling.

 

It emerged this week that the project along with a number of other local road upgrades have been effectively put on hold after Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan indicated to Sligo County Council that they weren’t on the high priority list.

 

It means that no funding will be available for the scheme for many years.

 

It’s understood that Minister Ryan made the comments during a cross party delegation while paying a visit to Sligo almost two weeks ago.

 

Fine Gael Cllr Dara Mulvey who wasn’t part of the delegation, is calling on all Oireachtas members to put the pressure on in a bid to get the decision reversed:
