Sligo Councillor calls for extra resources for St Angela’s College and Letterkenny to train additional nurses

A member of the Regional Health Forum West says it’s vital that as many of the new 854 nursing posts that are being created will be based in the north west.

The Health Minister has today announced a 25 million euro investment to boost staffing levels in the country’s acute hospitals.

It comes on day two of the Irish Nurses’ and Midwives’ Organisation’s annual conference – which Stephen Donnelly is due to address tomorrow.

Sligo Drumcliff Councillor Donal Gilroy red tape around appointments also needs to be streamlined.

The Fianna Fáil Councillor has also called for the nurse training facilities at St Angelina’s and Letterkenny to be provided with more investment so that more nurses can be trained locally.
