Sinn Féin is urging the government to introduce a three-month cap on energy prices.
A motion before the Dáil on Wednesday will call for a price-cap, a windfall tax dating back to the peak of energy prices last year, and tighter regulation to clamp down on price-gouging.
Many consumers have seen their energy prices increase significantly in recent years.
