Warriors Run 2023 sells out in three hours

Entries for this year’s Warriors Run in Strandhill sold out three hours after online registration opened this weekend.

Registration opened on Friday afternoon at 4pm – and shortly after 7pm that evening, organisers confirmed that all 1200 places had been taken.

The Warriors Run, a ten-mile run from the Cannon at Strandhill Village in Co Sligo to the top of Knocknarea mountain – and back – is one of the signature local sporting events in Sligo each year.

This year’s race, the 37th edition of the event, will take place on Saturday, August 26th, at 3:15pm.

It was won last year by local runner, Seamus Somers, from Sligo Athletic Club.

Organisers say there will be some race transfers available in July – as successful entrants may be unable to take part in the run.

Details of this will appear on the Warriors Run website and social media pages during the summer.
