Donegal minors well beaten by Derry

Donegal minor gaelic footballers suffered their first defeat of this year’s Ulster minor football championship on Saturday, going down to Derry on a final scoreline of 3-12 to 0-6.

Two goals in two first-half minutes did the damage as Derry established a 2-6 to 0-3 interval lead – and they never looked back after that.

Donegal had beaten Derry in the final of this year’s Ulster minor football league (Jim McGuigan Cup) by 1-9 to 0-9 – but Saturday’s encounter was a different story entirely with the Oak Leafers dominated from start to finish.

With three wins from three, Derry are set to top Group A in the Ulster minor football championship.

Donegal remain on course for the quarter-finals despite this loss – and will play Monaghan in their concluding group game next weekend.

Saturday’s Ulster MFC results
Group A
Donegal 0-6 Derry 3-12
Fermanagh 4-8 Down 1-10

Group B
Armagh 1-7 Cavan 1-16
Tyrone 8-17 Antrim 0-2
