Leitrim minors beaten by Roscommon



Leitrim minor footballers suffered their first defeat of the 2023 Connacht minor championship campaign on Friday evening at Dr Hyde Park as they lost out to Roscommon by 5-9 to 0-12.

There were just three points between them at the interval (1-6 to 0-6) – and Leitrim actually led by a point as the match entered the final 10 minutes.

However, four late goals from Roscommon cmpletely changed the complexion of the game as the home side ran out nine point winners by the finish.

Leitrim boss Carl Foley spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s PJ Leddy after the game.

Elsewhere, defending All-Ireland champions Galway beat Mayo by a point in Castlebar and collect their third win of the group stage – which confirms their place in the championship play-offs.
