Sligo Councillor the record sales of electric cars should lead to more more charging locations.



A Sligo Councillor says time is running out to provide sufficient numbers of electric car charging points across the North West.

 

Recent data from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry shows that 24% of all new cars sold in Ireland during the first three months of this year, were either fully electric or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

 

New electric car sales have by-passed diesel car sales for the first time while in 2022 electric cars sales nearly doubled to about 16,000.
