Minister Foley called on to included Sligo Schools in school mental health counselling programme

A Sligo Councillor is calling on the Minister for Education to include a number of Sligo schools to be included in the in-school mental health counselling programme that was announced in Budget 2023.

The €5m service was announced in the budget for primary schools to include primary-based arts and therapies which can provide for the social and emotional wellbeing of children.

Speaking to Ocean FM, Councillor Thomas Walsh believes the programme would be of benefit to schools within the county and assist the mental health of students at a much younger age.
