Sligo Councillors predict a riot in Easkey



There’s a warning that there will be “a riot” in Easkey unless a proper traffic management plan is put in place for upcoming works.

The project involves a road closure in the area, meaning heavy good vehicles may be diverted through the village.

The work is scheduled to last three months.

However the timeline has sparked major concern, owing to the expected influx of tourists to the area and the Fleadh Ceoil also due to take place.

Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council Cllr Michael Clarke says a plan that ensures the free movement of traffic and the safety of the community is imperative:
