Council urged to prioritise ‘dangerous’ south Sligo route



There are genuine fears that someone will be killed on the R293 between Gurteen and the Roscommon border unless much needed upgrade works are carried out.

 

Despite numerous funding applications, money has yet to be sanctioned by the Department of Transport.

 

Cllr Paul Taylor says the route is frequently used by heavy good vehicles and verge strengthening works at the very least need to be done as a matter of urgency.

 

Cllr Taylor says while previous applications have proven unsuccessful, Sligo County Council must prioritise the road going forward:
