Sligo edge closer to promotion with win in Carlow

Sligo gaelic footballers maintained their promotion push on Saturday evening with a 2-10 to 0-11 win over Carlow at Netwatch Cullen Park.

The Sligo performance wasn’t flawless as the Yeats County were guilty of several mistakes and handling errors but goals from team captain Niall Murphy and Sean Carrabine had them in a comfortable position on the scoreboard for much of the 70 minutes.

Sligo are now top of Division 4 – and a win in their final league game against Leitrim next Sunday (March 26th) will ensure promotion for Tony McEntee’s side.

The Sligo manager spoke to Cathal Mullaney after Saturday’s win.

Elsewhere, Tipperary and Longford were relegated from Division 3 on Saturday after losses to Offaly and Down respectively
