ATU Donegal claim Lynch Cup title



ATU Donegal women’s gaelic footballers claimed a national title on Saturday at the Connacht GAA Air Dome with an impressive 1-11 to 1-7 victory over University College Cork (UCC) to lift the 2023 Higher Education Lynch Cup.

Termon’s Ciara McGarvey was named Player of the Match as she contributed 1-5 of ATU’s total to spark great scenes of celebration.

The victory completes a league and championship double for the Donegal University.

The team, managed by Barney Curran, also included Ballyshannon’s Sylvester Maguire as part of the backroom team.

The Donegal side also included Sligo footballer Caoimhe Connor.

In the O’Connor Cup final, DCU regained the title for the first time since 2018 with a 3-14 to 1-13 success over University of Limerick.

The DCU side included Leitrim footballers Leah Fox (Glencar/Manor) & Clodagh Lohan (Cloone), as well as Sligo duo Claire Dunne (St Farnan’s) and Jade Lyons (Shamrock Gaels).
