ATU Sligo women’s soccer team captured the Interversities Division 1 league title on Thursday afternoon with a 1-0 win over NUI Galway in Athlone.
In difficult weather conditions, Sligo Rovers striker Emma Doherty struck for the game’s only goal from a first-half penalty, which she won herself.
The goal proved to the be the winner.
ATU Sligo still have the main Intervarsities cup competition to come later this month.
They will face Dundalk in the semi-final of the premier third level competition.
