Leitrim councillor says international health models should be examined to combat overcrowding crisis in Hospitals.



There’s calls on the HSE and the Government to look overseas for inspiration as it relates to combating the overcrowding crisis.

 

It’s thought that there should be more of a focus on primary care centres in more rural parts of Sligo and Leitrim which could result in less people attending the Emergency Department at Sligo University Hospital.

 

Member of the Regional Health Forum West and Manorhamilton MD Cllr Felim Gurn says the turnaround times in the likes of Spain is just one example.

 

Cllr Gurn believes it’s time to look at how it’s done elsewhere and see if something similar can be implemented here:
