Questions asked over Garda resources in Sligo & Leitrim after spike in burglaries



Questions are being asked to why extra Garda resources are not being prioritised in Sligo and Leitrim in a bid to clampdown on the recent spate of burglaries.

 

There have been a vast amount of break-ins in the North West in recent weeks with serious concern among local communities over a lack of Gardai in the region.

 

It’s thought that an increase in checkpoints, particularly in rural areas could curb the level of crime in the area.

 

Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council Cllr Michael Clarke says while the lack of frontline Gardai is the biggest issue, current Gardai should be afforded the opportunity to carry out extra duties where appropriate:
