Objections lodged against plans for extension at Lough Eske Castle Hotel

Objections have been lodged against plans for an extension at the five-star Lough Eske Hotel near Donegal Town.

The plans were lodged by Lough Eske Developments Ltd in January for a two-storey extension which would include an additional 24 suites and four bedrooms.

The development would increase the accommodation at the hotel from 97 rooms and suites.

However, it’s understood that a number of objections have been lodged against the plans, including that the proposed extension will interfere with wildlife and that the roads in the area are unsuitable for the expected increase in traffic.

Other concerns relate to the impact of the proposed development on local water and sewage infrastructure.

The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage has recommended a number of conditions if the plans were to be given the green light.

Donegal County Council is due to make a decision on the application in March.
