Family of Michael Leonard hold ‘constructive meeting’ with Tanaiste



The family of Michael Leonard has held what has been described as a constructive meeting with the Tanaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Michael Martin.

 

It is their hope that the Police Ombudsman in Northern Ireland will sanction a fresh inquest into the 24 year olds murder.

 

Michael was shot dead by the RUC at the border close to his home in Pettigo in May 17th 1973.

 

It’ll be 50 years since his killing this year.

 

Speaking to Ocean FM news, family friend and Donegal County Councillor Michael Naughton hopes that the support of Michael Martin will pave the way for a fresh inquest:
