Sligo women’s gaelic footballers picked up their first win in Division 3 of the Lidl national football league on Sunday with an encouraging 0-20 to 2-9 win over Longford at Emmet Park in Killoe.
Sligo, who had lost their first four games in the division, led Longford by a point (0-10 to 1-6) at half-time.
A strong closing quarter from Anthony Brennan’s side saw them run out deserved five-point winners to collect their first three points of the campaign.
