Leitrim councillor unhappy that HSE owned buildings are falling into disrepair during housing crisis

Yesterday’s Manorhamilton Municipal District meeting of Leitrim County Council heard strong criticism of the HSE for allowing several building under their remit fall into a state of disrepair during the current housing crisis

A recently published report indicated that HSE buildings that are empty for last number of years are not fit for purpose for housing Ukrainian refugees and the cost to bring them back into use would be prohibitive.

Leitrim independent Councillor Felim Gurn has called for immediate action to be taken in establishing uses for the buildings in question.

He says the project could be a starting point for a Vacant Buildings Officer to work with the HSE with the view of empty HSE building being handed over to the community groups.
