McSharry adds 200m gold to 100m success in Texas



Mona McSharry’s hugely impressive week at the Southeastern Conference Swimming Championships in the United States continued on Saturday night when the Sligo woman added gold in the women’s 200 metres breaststroke final to her 100m breaststroke success on Friday night.

McSharry swam 2.05:11 to win the 200m for the first time in her collegiate career at the University of Tennessee.

It was a fine peformance by the Grange girl and she now has two gold and two silver medals for her week’s work at a championship meet in Texas which is regarded as one of the most prestigious on the US collegiate swimming circuit.

The University of Tennessee women’s Vols team won 12 medals at the championships to finish second on the medals table overall.
