Leitrim caught in the wind by Wexford

Leitrim suffered their first defeat in Division 4 of the Allianz Football League on Sunday as Wexford finished the stronger at windy Chadwick’s Wexford Park to win by 0-19 to 0-15.

Despite playing with a strong wind at their backs, Leitrim produced a below-par first 35 minutes and found themselves trailing by a point at the interval (08 to 0-7).

However, they were an improved team in the second-half and the introduction of Tom Prior to the Leitrim attack made a noticeable difference.

Leitrim got their noses in front at one stage in the second half but wind-assisted Wexford ralled as their opponents began to tire.

Mark Rossiter score 0-10 of Wexford’s total as they ran out four point winners.

Afterwards, Leitrim manager Andy Moran agreed that his side’s sluggish opening half, when they had the advantage of the elements, was costly.
