There’s a call on the government to lend more support to smaller hospitals as patients are left waiting on beds.
New figures released today show the trolley numbers as a percentage of the total bed capacity in each hospital.
While larger hospitals have more patients waiting on a bed, smaller hospitals have more patients on trolleys compared to the capacity of the hospital.
The figures were released by the Roscommon East Galway TD Independent TD, Denis Naughten.
Trollies represent 9.5% of beds at Sligo university Hospital and 8 % at Letterkenny University Hospital.
The figures claim that the average number when it comes to patients on trollies for the last month at Sligo University Hospital was 27 while the average number in Letterkenny was 29/
