Government accused of failing inshore fishermen



A Donegal Sinn Fein TD has accused the Government of not providing specific fuel supports to inshore fishermen.

 

There had been concern in Killybegs and elsewhere, particularly in the final months of 2022 that many fishermen couldn’t afford to go to sea due to the rising cost in fuel for their boats.

 

Speaking in the Dail, Donegal Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn challenged Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue over his efforts on the matter to date.

 

Donegal Deputy MacLochlainn says these fishermen must be provided with a financial allocation and that there are avenues to be explored:
