Leitrim councillor fears tourists will avoid the north west over lack of hotel beds

A Leitrim councillor has issued warnings over the North West’s tourism potential being negatively impacted by the potential lack of beds available to tourist’s right across the region.

Cllr Sean McDermott says many well know tourism destinations are being impacted by falling numbers due to lack of beds that are currently available in Hotels for visitors to this region

Since the start of the war in the Ukraine a number of beds have been allocated to refuges in many hotels in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.

The Fine Gael Councillor say if travel tour operators are unable to secure accommodation or have to pay more for their customers to stay in hotels then they could cease their long running  association with the north west.
